Consistency is the Key

APD Tactic 1 - Develop Your System

Have you ever heard that safelists are a waste of time? Well the facts are quite different. By submitting to ten different safelists – three times a week – every single week – I earn around $3000 year. Sure – not much money, but it takes me a whopping 15 minutes a week – an hour a month – 12 hours a year. So that works out to about $250/hr. Yeah, I think I can work that into my schedule……

But the key is to develop a system, and follow through with consistent action.  This is no different than a exercise routine - if you regularly like clockwork stick with your routine - you will see results.  If you approach it as a hit and miss - your results will also prove to be inconsistent.

Developing your system:
1 - Sign up for several paid safelist programs - each will require 2 email addresses - a safelist email address and a contact email address.  I recommend creating two brand new emails for these, preferably on a domain where you can control what is done with the emails.   Always upgrade to a paid membership, with at least a post every other day.  You will have much greater success using the paid systems versus the free safelists.

2 - Use the same username and password for each of these safelist accounts.  

3 - With a html editor like Frontpage, or even a free editor will do, build a private webpage that lists all of the login urls of the safelists you have joined.  Without even publishing to the web - just open this webpage with your favorite browser - internet explorer or firefox.

4 - Use a software such as Type-it-in or Roboform and enter your username - tab -password - enter.  Then it is a one click login to each of the above links.  Using the same software, enter your subject line and you email body as separate buttons.  Then when it come time to enter your message - two clicks and you are done.

5 - Set a time when you will submit to these safelists and then stick to it.  Your membership level with these safelists, often determines how often you can post your emails.  Emailing every other day has proven to be a very effective approach, but consistency is the key - sales are always a percentage of presentations..  

 



APD Tactic 2 - Screencast Your Safelist Submission Process

Record your entire submission process with a screencast recorder such as Camtasia, and then outsource the work - delegate the task.  This is a perfect example of a simple task that can be done by others because:
1 - The main process is consistent
2 - Only the data varies  - subject lines and text body
3 - Can be easily recorded and explained
4 - Can be easily verified that task is complete
5 - Low security risk - no high level passwords required

APD Tactic 3 - Rotate Your Subject Lines and Email Messages

Rotate your subject lines and emails and make sure your subject lines create curiosity and "draw in" the other safelist members.  While it is always said the headline is important - it is even more so when it comes to email subject lines.  You want your message to stand out from the rest so as to cause a person to want/desire to learn more.  Avoid using deceptive subject lines such as "You Made a Sale" as that will eliminate any credibility to your message.  

Examine the subject lines of emails you open - build your own subject line swipe file.  Safelist submissions also makes for a simple way to test different subject lines to determine which are the most effective, and have the greatest "pulling power".  Look at the other subject lines in the safelist emails you receive - make sure yours are different.

When testing change either subject line or the email message - but not both at the same time.   Try 2 or 3 subject lines, and when you have determined the best, use 2 or 3 different email messages to determine the best.  This simple technique can easily increase your response rate and profits.

 


 

 


APD Tactic 4 - Grow Your List

Send those who open and click through your safelist messages, into your own landing or squeeze page, and then follow up with a series of autoresponder messages.  Instead of "wasting" that safelist "click thru" by sending it directly to an affiliate link, have them first go through you own signup process where you will be able to plug them into your own series of autoresponder messages.
